CPA Hire vs Contract Lift

When hiring a crane from Cambridge Crane Hire, it is important you get the right service that suits your requirements, whilst ensuring the health, safety and well being of all involved. Here you can find the difference between CPA hire and a full contract lift. CPA Hire

The customer has a duty to:


  • Provide a qualified and competent Appointed Person who has the knowledge, experience and understanding of all aspects of the lifting operation.
  • Provide a qualified and competent Crane Supervisor and Slinger-Signaller.
  • Plan the lift and operate a safe system of work.
  • Provide all Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Ensure that the crane hired is of a suitable type and capacity.
  • Check the credentials of the crane hire company and certification supplied.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with BS 7121 and LOLER 1998.


In addition, under standard CPA terms, the customer must provide the following insurance cover:


  • Loss of, or damage to, our plant whilst on site.
  • Loss of, or damage to, the goods being lifted. 
  • Continuing hire charges whilst the plant is ‘off the road’ for repairs following damage.
  • Public liability, injury to operator, injury to other parties, including their property, arising from the crane operations.


Cambridge Crane Hire has a duty to:


  • Provide a crane that is properly maintained, tested and certificated.
  • Provide a qualified and competent Crane Operator.

Contract Lift

Contract Lift

Cambridge Crane Hire will:


  • Provide a qualified and competent Appointed Person who has the knowledge, experience and understanding of all aspects of the lifting operation.
  • Provide a qualified and competent Slinger-Signaller and/or Crane Supervisor.
  • Provide a qualified and competent Crane Operator.
  • Plan the lift and operate a safe system of work.
  • Provide all Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Ensure that the crane supplied is of a suitable type and capacity.
  • Provide a crane that is properly maintained, tested and certificated.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with BS 7121 and LOLER 1998.


The customer has a duty to:


  • Provide accurate information relating to both the items to be lifted and for the ground conditions.
